A UNESCO World Heritage Site
To preserve the rich Heritage of KALKA SHIMLA Railway, Ambala Division of Northern railway has set up a Heritage Museum at Shimla containing rare artifacts, giving in depth knowledge of this section and its rich Heritage values. This museum has been named as BABA BHALKU RAIL MUSEUM in commemoration to the service provided by BABA BHALKU in guiding engineers for the construction of this line. This museum was opened to Public by Worthy GM/N. Railway on 07.7.2011. All the artifacts of KLK-SML section having Heritage Value have been displayed in the museum. Some of the artifacts are very fragile in nature like vintage crockery etc. which require delicate handling for transshipment and on the other side some are bulky and heavy like bell, weighing machine etc. requiring huge muscle power to transport the same to the museum. Each artifact reveals the story of this Heritage section in its own way. With the inauguration of BABA BHALKU RAIL MUSEUM in July/2011, railway has not only fulfilled the commitment made to Parliament, but also paid a rich tribute to BABA BHALKU by dedicating and naming the museum after him for his contribution towards construction of KALKA-SHIMLA Railway Line.
